Frequently Asked Questions

Racer / Practice Tree Systems

  • How Far Should I Sit from the Practice Tree? One common mistake when practicing with a full-size tree is to sit too close to the tree. On the racetrack, the tree is roughly 41ft from the front tire of your car. The top amber bulb is 84-87” from the ground.
  • How to Make Computer Player Stage Faster on Next Gen? On the Eliminator Next Gen, the “Auto Start Time” parameter controls how quickly the computer player stages. If you cannot see this parameter, set “Autostart” to “On” and it will appear. Both parameters are found on the third page of the practice tree “Settings” menu. Each run, the Eliminator picks a random time from 0 to the auto start time. It uses this time to decide when the computer player will stage. If you have “Random Stage” set to “Off”, the computer player will always stage second. If you have “Random Stage” set to “On”, the computer player will occasionally stage first.
  • Why was I LB3A? LB3A means left before third amber. For pro tree, it indicates a user left before the tree illuminated. A common question is why a vehicle is LB3A when it seemingly doesn’t move. This is normally seen if a vehicle backs out of the stage beam or when vibration causes a flicker of the stage beam after a vehicle is fully staged. For transbrake users, it is important to make sure your vehicle settles forward when the transbrake is activated. It is also helpful to have a line lock tied to the transbrake to ensure minimal movement. Some tracks use stage lock, which, if set properly, can prevent the beam flicker that leads to LB3A red lights. If your track does not use stage lock, it is important to take an extra bump if the stage beam flickers. This added bump should help to prevent against LB3A instances.
  • Full-Size Tree Not Working or Multiple Lights not Lighting with Eliminator Next Gen: The Eliminator Next Gen does not send control signals to the full-size tree when on battery power. To use the Eliminator with a full-size tree, the Eliminator must be powered by a AC to DC power adapter. If the tree still does not work after powering the Eliminator with an adapter, it is possible that the incorrect adapter was used. The Eliminator requires a 12VDC adapter to power the Eliminator. A common error is to swap the 2” display and Eliminator adapter.
  • How Can I Dim the Bulbs on the Full-Size Tree? If you have a tree with incandescent light bulbs, a dimmer switch can be installed. Please find a link below to dimmer switch instructions. If you have a tree with LED light bulbs, the best method to dim the bulbs is to wrap them in black nylons.

  • 2″ LED Display Turns On, but Doesn’t Show Anything: The cable from the Eliminator to the 2” display is uni-directional. It will only work in one direction. Make sure the side labeled “To Eliminator Center Port” is connected to the Eliminator. If the cable direction is correct or the display still doesn’t work after changing the direction, make sure the display is enabled in the Eliminator.

  • 2″ LED Display Does Not Turns On: The Eliminator and 2” Display use the same size power adapter. Please confirm that the 5VDC adapter is being used with the 2” display and the 12VDC adapter is being used with the Eliminator. The display has a power protection circuit inside of it, which prevents it from turning on if the wrong adapter is used.
